Paris Autumn Fair

  (2015)

“… A glass artist from the Musée du Vitrail, awarded at the Salon d'Automne in Paris, Serge Elphège won the Salon d'Automne 2015 prize in Paris in the Environmental Art category for the Clef des Chants. Glass artist from Argenteuil, Serge Elphège has been working with the Stained Glass Museum since 2013: exhibiting artist, artist in residence with the creation of the Mélusine stained glass sculpture and speaker for adult stained glass workshops.

La Clef des Chants, a sound work, was exhibited at the Musée du vitrail in 2013 in the Temporary Exhibition, Art Deco, The Roaring Twenties, then, on loan from the artist, the work remained for two years at the Maison du Tourism of Lusignan. Recently, she had returned to the Atelier du Musée where now contemporary glass artists present their works as part of the Comtemp'expo.

Exhibited at the Salon d'Automne from October 15 to 18, the stained glass window is an award-winning and it will be presented by the artist on December 3 at the awards ceremony in Paris.

Contemporary Arts Fair since 1903, the Salon d'Automne participates in all the major artistic movements of the twentieth century by welcoming the biggest names in modern painting from Picasso, Cézanne or Matisse through the School of Paris; and sculpture with Camille Claudel, Rodin, Duchamp-Villon. Today, the Salon d'Automne continues its mission to bring together what the current creation has most dynamic and promising.

This award obtained by Serge Elphège is not only grateful for the profession but also for stained glass. Rarely has this artistic category been represented and rewarded at the Salon d'Automne. Stained glass is thus recognized as a real field of artistic creation on a par with painting and sculpture.

Each year, the Stained Glass Museum welcomes and exhibits promising contemporary glass artists. It also promotes the meeting of these artists with the public through residencies, internships and events. The next meeting at the Atelier will, moreover, be in 2016 with the JEMA (European Days of Crafts) on April 01, 02 and 03 in the presence of the award-winning artist.

Serge Elphège exhibits until November 30, 2015 with Isabelle Flores de Fontainebleau at the Atelier du Musée and he leads adult courses all year round… ”
